TimeStreak for Schools
TimeStreak is an opt-in wellbeing app designed to help students reduce distracting screen time, especially late at night, so they can show up with better energy, focus and performance at school and in sport.
What TimeStreak does
Helps students reduce time on distracting apps by rewarding “clean minutes”
Builds streaks and simple daily goals to support better habits
Encourages healthier sleep routines (late-night distracting app use can impact points/streaks)
Supports focus in class and performance in training and competition
Who it’s for
TimeStreak school pilots are best suited to high school students (typically Years 8 to 10), with parent/guardian awareness and consent.
Students stay in control. This is not a surveillance tool and it is not designed for punishment or enforcement.
School pilot overview (simple and low admin)
A TimeStreak school pilot is designed to be easy for schools to run.
Typical pilot format
Duration: 8 to 10 weeks
Participation: opt-in (student choice) with parent/guardian consent
Cohort: one school, one year level (or a defined group)
Setup: students join via a school pilot link/code during onboarding
What the school provides
A staff contact for coordination
Permission to invite families to participate (newsletter/email)
Optional: a short wellbeing message to support the pilot theme (sleep + focus)
What TimeStreak provides
A simple onboarding guide for families
Weekly “focus prompts” the school can forward (short, practical, non-judgemental)
A weekly pilot summary (aggregate only)
An end-of-pilot wrap-up report and recommendations
How students join
Install TimeStreak from Google Play
During onboarding, enter the school pilot code (provided by the school)
Start stacking clean minutes
Privacy and reporting (important)
TimeStreak is designed to be privacy-first for students.
What schools receive
Aggregated, anonymised pilot results only (group trends)
What schools do not receive
No individual student dashboards
No individual student phone/app usage reports
No “top users” lists or leaderboards that identify students
Students can opt out at any time.
What success looks like
Schools typically want outcomes that are simple and measurable. A pilot can track:
Participation and weekly engagement (cohort-level)
Clean minutes trends over time (cohort-level)
Streak distribution (cohort-level)
Optional: a short pre/post student survey on sleep quality, focus, and energy
Frequently asked questions
Is this mandatory for students?
No. School pilots are designed to be opt-in.
Does this increase screen time?
TimeStreak is designed to reduce time on distracting apps and support healthier habits. The goal is better sleep, better focus, and better performance.
What does the school need to install or manage?
Nothing. Schools simply share the pilot invite with families and nominate a staff contact.
What phones does it work on?
TimeStreak is currently available on Android.
Can students keep their data private?
TimeStreak is designed around categories (for example ‘red’ and ‘green’ apps). For school pilots, reporting is aggregate only (group trends). We do not provide schools with individual student app-level reports.
About the founder
TimeStreak was created by Shaun Ahearn, a South Australian small business owner and parent based in the Barossa Valley. I built the app because I wanted a practical, positive way to help my own kids develop better phone habits, especially around late-night scrolling and sleep. TimeStreak is designed to support better sleep, focus and performance at school and in sport, without shame or surveillance. If your school is interested in a small, opt-in pilot, I’d love to hear from you.
